What To Expect
The CyberCab Process Engineer will lead working the with ME team to do the planning, execution, and optimization of Assembly/Welding processes during the launch phase of Tesla’s new products introduction. This role focuses on the successful deployment of multiple manufacturing equipment, ensuring processes meet safety, quality, and operational efficiency targets while achieving key project milestones. Meanwhile, this role also executes production ramp-up activities in alignment with Tesla’s manufacturing standards. The engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders to deliver world-class manufacturing solutions aligned with Tesla’s innovative standards.
What You'll Do
Define and optimize production processes for Assembly/Welding line launch, focusing on efficiency, safety, and quality. Ensure the development and maintenance of process documentation, including FMEAs, control plans, and manufacturing instructionDevelop and implement process cycle time analyses, line metrics, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvementsCreate and refine process flow, material flow, ergonomic assessments, and line layouts for optimal material flow and operator performanceCollaborate on project milestones including preliminary design reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and final commissioningDrive approval processes for milestone activities, ensuring completion of required safety forms, technical specifications, and documentationAnalyze data from multiple sources to evaluate build quality and process capabilityCollaborate with cross-functional teams during the concept, design, and commissioning phases to define equipment functionality, sequence of operations, and acceptance criteriaEnsure compliance with Tesla Standards (TS) documents for all process and equipment specificationsApply structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., DMAIC, 8D, Five Why) to resolve launch challenges and optimize processesDrive adherence to Lean Manufacturing principles in material handling, waste reduction, and ergonomic studies
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experienceDemonstrated experience in launching and improving manufacturing processes in a high-volume production environmentStrong understanding of process flow, line balancing, and takt time optimizationProficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Minitab) and statistical process control (SPC) will plusBasic knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and manufacturing execution systems (MES)Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, supplier, and production teamsPassion for innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering world-class manufacturing excellenceProven track record in project management, milestone tracking, and adherence to rigorous timelinesStrong problem solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly by utilizing structured problem solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D)
