Job Summary:
The Quality Technician – Entry performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product quality. This role uses basic measurement tools, records inspection results, maintains traceability, and supports containment of non-conforming material. The technician assists with start-up checks, escalates quality issues, and supports manufacturing quality engineers, manufacturing, and operations to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection per work instructions, inspection plans, and/or control plans.
- Use basic measurement tools correctly to inspect material and complete required gage checks.
- Execute basic non-conforming material containment steps and escalate quality concerns using the escalation path.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain traceability in site systems, meeting defined accuracy and timeline expectations.
- Support first-piece and start-up checks at the production line and apply reaction plan steps as trained; escalate non-conforming results immediately.
- Follow all work instructions, standard operating procedures Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and documented processes for assigned tasks or stations.
- Follow 6S, safety, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements; maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
- Participate in basic problem-solving activities, including defect identification and data collection.
- Complete required training (print reading, gaging, defect codes) to progress toward independent responsibility coverage.
- Support weekend and off shift work as required.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to learn to read part prints and apply tolerances.
- Ability to learn basic dimensional measurement and metrology practices.
- Basic computer skills, including email, data entry, and spreadsheets.
- Basic problem-solving skills for troubleshooting production issues.
- Ability to understand process changes, updates, and related work instructions within assigned areas.
- Ability to understand and apply customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
