Role Description As a Senior Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer at Archer, you will lead the design, layout, and documentation of complex PCBs for aerospace applications. In this full-time, on-site role based in Greater Boston, you will collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to translate requirements and schematics into robust, manufacturable PCB designs. Your day-to-day work will include component placement, high-speed routing, stack-up definition, impedance control, and design reviews, as well as preparing fabrication and assembly documentation. You will support prototype builds, lead design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) efforts, and troubleshoot issues identified during testing and validation. You will also help define and improve PCB design standards, tools, and best practices to ensure reliability, safety, and compliance with aerospace and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Circuit Design and Electronics, with proven experience translating schematics into complex, multi-layer PCB layouts.
- Expertise in Analog design, including low-noise, precision, and mixed-signal circuits used in sensing, control, and power management.
- Background in Electrical Engineering, with a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with Radio Frequency (RF) design and layout techniques, including controlled impedance routing, grounding, and shielding for RF and high-speed signals.
- Proficiency with industry-standard PCB CAD tools (Altium Designer), and experience generating fabrication and assembly packages.
- Demonstrated ability to apply DFM/DFT principles, work with PCB fabricators and assemblers, and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and best practices (e.g., IPC standards, aerospace or automotive reliability requirements, EMC/EMI considerations).
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor less-experienced designers.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or other safety-critical industries is highly desirable.
