Role SummaryThe RIMA (Rivian Internal Mobile App) team is a dedicated cross-functional team working on cutting-edge mobile technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in building Rivian's unified internal mobile application in Serbia.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the RIMA team, you will be an integral part of our mission to build and operate a single, reliable internal mobile app that unifies today's Hub and Technician experiences into one modern platform for Rivian's commercial field teams across sales, delivery, and service. We are looking for a highly technical mobile engineer with a particular focus on React Native, with a proven track record in architecting enterprise-level mobile solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Rivian's internal teams to simplify day-to-day workflows, reduce duplicate systems, and lay a resilient architectural foundation so teams can ship features faster and with higher quality.
Responsibilities- Design and Develop: Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, React, TypeScript, and Expo.
- State Management & UI: Architect and manage complex application states using tools like Redux, Zustand, or RxJS, and build sleek, responsive interfaces using Tailwind and Nativewind.
- API Integration: Seamlessly consume RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints, ensuring efficient data exchange.
- App Deployment: Lead and manage the end-to-end deployment process for React Native applications, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and continuously improve the mobile app for speed, scalability, and reliability (including handling low-connectivity scenarios without needing a desktop).
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment (2-week Scrum sprints), including backend engineers, product managers, and designers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Write integration tests and unit tests, and actively participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for code, app architecture, and shared components.
Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and React Native.
- Deep hands-on experience building and scaling mobile applications with Expo.
- Solid experience with state management systems such as Redux, Zustand, RxJS, or similar.
- Proven experience utilizing modern styling libraries like Tailwind and Nativewind.
- Strong understanding of and experience using RESTful APIs and GQL.
- Complete understanding of the build and deployment process for React Native applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative Agile environment.
- Be able to work with different team members and be a true self-learner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of native mobile development (iOS/Swift or Android/Kotlin).
- Familiarity and experience with AWS cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with Remix framework
- Familiarity with CMS systems like Contentful
- A passion for the electric vehicle industry and sustainable technology.
