About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our subsidiary team in Germany. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical primary design, power system design, and electrical secondary systems, with a focus on high-voltage applications (110 kV and above). Experience in renewable energy, energy storage, and substation design is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer high-voltage electrical systems (220 kV and above) for substations, renewable energy projects, and energy storage systems.
- Develop detailed electrical primary and secondary system designs, including protection, control, and automation schemes.
- Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, stability, and protection coordination analysis.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation in compliance with German and international standards (e.g., DIN, IEC, IEEE).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and project management, to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Perform site visits and assessments as needed to support design validation and project execution.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience in electrical design for high-voltage systems (110 kV+), substations, renewable energy, and energy storage projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical primary systems (e.g., switchgear, transformers, busbars) and secondary systems (e.g., protection relays, SCADA, control panels).
- Expertise in power system analysis and simulation tools, including:
- DIgSILENT PowerFactory (mandatory)
- PSCAD/EMTDC (mandatory)
- Proficiency in engineering and design software:
- CAD tools: AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
- Calculation software: ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or equivalent
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., DIN VDE, IEC 61850, IEEE standards).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with grid integration of renewable energy and storage systems.
- Knowledge of digital substation design and IEC 61850 implementation.
- Professional engineering certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PE license, or equivalent).
