EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time Controls Technician for one of our partners that is a leading manufacturing company specializing in advanced industrial equipment and systems. In this position, you will demonstrate strong safety leadership while maintaining and troubleshooting complex automated systems including programmable logic controllers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and motor controls across a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role works the 2nd shift Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM. Fridays are generally an 8-hour shift as business needs allow. Saturday hours may also be necessary based on business needs from 5PM – 10PM/11PM., plus a $2/hour shift differential for premium compensation.
Responsibilities
- Program and maintain programmable logic controllers, automation systems, human-machine interfaces, and associated hardware using various programming languages including Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagrams, Sequential Function Charts, and Structured Text
- Configure and troubleshoot computer and device networking systems utilizing standard industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Modbus, Hart, DH+/485, and ASCII communications
- Champion safety leadership initiatives while strictly adhering to established safe work practices and safety protocols throughout all maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strategically plan, execute, and complete comprehensive equipment repairs and maintenance projects
- Perform systematic routine audits and detailed equipment inspections to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues before they impact production
- Foster open and professional communication channels with operations teams to ensure seamless coordination and information sharing
- Provide rapid response to unplanned maintenance requests and emergency work situations with timely and effective solutions
- Implement and follow established safety procedures and good manufacturing practices consistently across all work activities
- Execute independent work assignments while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED certification combined with completion of formal trades training program or equivalent combination of education and hands-on maintenance experience
- Minimum of 2 years industrial maintenance experience with comprehensive expertise in electrical systems and motor controls
- Demonstrated proficiency in controls and instrumentation systems for industrial applications
- Advanced knowledge of PLC software and hardware systems including programming and troubleshooting capabilities
- Solid understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems including installation, maintenance, and repair procedures
- Strong mechanical systems knowledge covering installation, operation, and maintenance of industrial equipment
- Experience with predictive maintenance techniques and methodologies for proactive equipment management
- Proven maintenance planning and scheduling skills to optimize equipment uptime and efficiency
- Excellent system analysis and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Ability to work in the United States with proper work authorization
- Must be available to work weekend shifts: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, and system interface operations
- Professional certification or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance fields, or completion of related technical coursework
- Extensive knowledge of AC induction motors, advanced controls, sensors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, start-up procedures, and comprehensive troubleshooting methodologies
- Hands-on experience with major automation platforms including Rockwell Automation, Siemens, GE, Horner, and Opto22 systems
