The Sr. Design Engineer, PCBA will play a key role in helping LiveWire achieve this vision. The PCB Design group participates in all electronic designs throughout all motorcycle systems, including high voltage storage, propulsion, and customer facing electronics. Your input will help drive system and vehicle-level design direction to help ensure LiveWire motorcycles connect to the customer emotionally and provide an unparalleled riding experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Generate PCB layouts for any high voltage or low voltage electronics developed in-house by LiveWire.
- Perform schematic capture, symbol & footprint creation, component placement, connections, netlist and BOM generation using the Altium Designer tool suite.
- Work with our Design Engineers and Senior level PCB designers to create new and modify existing PCB designs.
- Perform PCB / PCBA documentation generation and updates.
- ODB++ / IPC-2581 file generation
- Bills of Material generation and error checking
- Creation and maintenance of fabrication and assembly drawings
- Documenting PCB stack-up materials and specifications
- Conformal coating specifications and drawings
- Specification of impedance-controlled designs
- Interface with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering staff to ensure PCB designs will support a product that meets manufacturing, EMC, thermal, cost, and customer performance expectations.
- Own and maintain the LiveWire Altium Component Library.
- Update component library and preferred component selections.
- Support electronic component selection, electrical characteristic analysis, obsolescence management, component library management, and drawing creation activities.
- Support electrical part substitution selection and validation.
- Perform board density and component packaging studies that will help set design and styling direction for new motorcycle development programs.
- Document PCBA rework instructions.
- Provide technical support to Supply Chain and PCB fabrication and assembly suppliers.
- Support sourcing and quoting for prototype and volume PCB / PCBA production.
- Work with our identified PCB manufacturers to define and apply DFA and DFM criteria to our new and existing PCBs.
- Ensure current and potential PCBA contract manufacturers are aware of and are meeting IPC standards.
- Respond to technical queries from PCB vendors.
- Provide support to designs currently in production, including
- Component End of Life issues
- Quality issues
- Cost reduction efforts
- Identification and on-boarding of component and PCBA suppliers.
- Support DFMEA and PFMEA
- Evaluation of alternate PCB materials and stackups
- Perform Altium 365 workspace administration.
- Perform Altium Designer library data review and approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PCB Layout experience in an Aerospace, Automotive, Motorsport, or Medical Device new product development environment.
- Familiar with Electrical Engineering concepts. Ability to read and generate electrical circuit schematics.
- Advanced experience using Altium 365 Design tools.
- Experience with maintaining signal integrity within complex PCB layouts.
- Strong knowledge of multilayer PCB fabrication techniques per IPC standards.
- Strong knowledge in component placement for EMI, EMC, ESD, and transient protection.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics preferred.
- IPC CID+ Certification strongly preferred.
Pay Range: $90,700 - $140,800
The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
