Role SummaryThe Sr./Staff NVH Engineer is part of the NVH attributes team and is a key contributor to the execution of physical validation tests in components, subsystems and vehicles to determine their noise and vibration performance. In this position, they collaborate with fellow test and simulation engineers to execute comprehensive system-level NVH diagnostics and will be responsible to spearhead design changes to continuously improve the refinement, noise, and tactile character of Rivian products. This role will be located at our Irvine, CA engineering offices and it will be expected to travel to other testing facilities across the country (Arizona, Texas, Michigan, etc.).
Responsibilities- Lead and execute system and vehicle level NVH testing, both in laboratory and on-road.
- Generate detailed diagnostics of NVH performance utilizing TPA, ODS, FRF’s, modal analysis
- Transform complex NVH data into clear, concise technical reports and provide insightful analysis.
- Work with design engineers to implement required NVH-related design changes.
- Plan and conduct NVH tests to support validation of CAE models.
- Develop standardized and automated test procedures and data processing techniques.
- Actively contribute to NVH continuous improvement initiatives, for a culture of innovation and efficiency.
Qualifications- Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field
- Desirable advanced degree with graduate work in acoustics / vibration is a plus
- 10+ years of NVH experience in automotive or related field
- Strong command of NVH-related physics and first principles
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with high performance expectations
- Strong communication, able to influence without authority
- Proficient performing data collection and digital signal processing using Matlab / Python
- Experience conducting Modal Analysis (generating mode shapes, TF’s, etc.)
- Proficient in performing Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) and contribution analysis
- Desirable experience using test techniques including sound transmission loss (STL), absorption (J1400/Impedance tube) and reverberation time (RT60)
- Proven track record of problem solving and independent root cause analysis.
- Able to consolidate large quantities of data to analyze and interpret results
- Required LMS Test Lab experience
- Desirable Head acoustic experience.
- ~25% of domestic travel to test facilities
Pay DisclosureSalary range for California Based Applicants: $154,000-$192,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
