What To Expect
Tesla’s Aerodynamics team is looking for a world-class technician to operate and maintain our exciting new wind tunnel test facility and other aerodynamic test equipment. Working on the front line of aerodynamic testing, you will develop expertise in the use of the cutting-edge technology that is employed in helping to develop new vehicles. The successful candidate will have a wide range of hands-on skills that will enable them to maintain and operate complex control, electro-mechanical and hydraulic systems to the highest standards. You will have an eye for detail that will help you to contribute to successful testing outcomes and a curiosity to learn, grow and contribute value to our mission.
What You'll Do
Day-to-day operation and maintenance of Tesla’s wind tunnel, under the guidance of the Aerodynamics Test Equipment engineering team, ensuring that the facility runs to the highest of standards Use of wind tunnel software to set up and execute test procedures safely and effectivelyActing as the first line of defense in identifying, diagnosing and resolving operational issues and safety concernsAssisting with the build, maintenance and operation of all types of aerodynamic test equipment, including wind tunnel test articlesCompletion of checks and calibration ahead of asset useMaintenance of tools and consumablesAssisting with the organization of aerodynamic test equipment logistics for offsite eventsProactive involvement in development methods and processes to deliver continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
Experience in an R&D test environmentHands-on experience of test equipment buildUnderstanding of mechanical systems, including motors, bearings, hydraulics, bushings and actuatorsExcellent computer skills and an appetite to learn new softwareBasic CAD familiarity, with ability to load and interrogate models and assembliesA proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in MS OfficeEvidence of exceptional ability through academic qualifications or equivalent in experienceExperience of wind tunnel testing (preferred)A passion for sustainable energy or related technologies (preferred)

Expected Compensation
$23.18 - $47.88/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
