Role SummaryThe Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional procurement professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. In this role, the IT Spot Buy Specialist will be responsible for the execution of efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services requisite to fulfilling immediate business needs. This role is principally concerned with non-routine purchases and sourcing activities that transpire beyond the purview of pre-existing contractual agreements. The Tactical Buyer shall ensure the timely delivery of required Information Technology goods and services, administer associated costs, and maintain relationships with suppliers to support urgent or non-standard requirements.
Responsibilities● Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology landscape.
● Respond promptly to urgent or unexpected demands for Information Technology goods and services to effectively reduce business disruptions
● Suppliers for non-routine or urgent Information Technology related requests (encompassing hardware, software, cloud services, & IT services) shall be identified and sourced through the utilization of Request for Quotations (RFQs), online marketplaces, and preferred supplier databases.
● Develop and maintain a network of suppliers for spot buy and tactical purchase requests of Information Technology related goods and services.
● Resolve supplier issues and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner, addressing technical or service-related problems.
● Identify and implement opportunities to achieve cost savings within Information Technology goods and services.
● Cost savings achieved through effective negotiation and sourcing strategies shall be tracked and reported in accordance with standard operating procedures.
● Maintain accurate and organized records of all purchases, supplier communications, and related documentation, including software agreement and expirations dates.
● Collaboration with strategic sourcing teams to facilitate the transition of recurring Information Technology needs from spot buys to long-term contractual agreements.
● Collaborate with internal stakeholders, particularly within Information Technology, to ascertain immediate purchasing needs.
● Order status, delivery timelines, and potential issues shall be communicated to stakeholders, with a focus on keeping Information Technology apprised of changes impacting their operations.
● All purchasing activities shall comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, as well as relevant Information Technology procurement regulations and best practices.
Qualifications● A Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, information technology, or a related field is generally preferred.
● 3+ years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role, with a focus on tactical buying or spot buying within an Information Technology environment.
● Ability to align with the US working hours (2PM - 10PM Serbian time).
● Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on resolving Information Technology-related procurement challenges.
● Proficiency in procurement software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems - Coupa Preferred.
● Understanding of contract terms and conditions, including software licenses, SLAs, and Information Technology-specific legal considerations.
● Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with a focus on minimizing disruptions to Information Technology operations.
● Demonstrated sense of urgency and responsiveness in addressing critical Information Technology needs.
● Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
● A high level of integrity and ethical conduct, especially in handling sensitive information.
● Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS, ITIL) is considered advantageous.
