Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer III will support the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) team in the execution of full-cycle projects for our lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility. This role includes performing mechanical design work, adapting technical solutions to meet client needs, budget considerations, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will collaborate across disciplines to ensure quality, safety, and performance in all phases of project delivery. The ideal candidate brings solid technical skills, hands-on project experience, and a strong interest in contributing to clean energy solutions.
Essential Duties
Project Execution & Design Support
- Perform mechanical design tasks from conceptual phase through detailed design and construction
- Support commissioning and startup activities
- Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, industry codes, and standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs
- Support resolution of complex technical issues and identify design improvements
- Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines
- Ensure designs meet the functional requirements of process equipment and applicable codes
Engineering Deliverables & Technical Documentation
- Perform calculations for equipment sizing and material selection
- Assist in developing technical specifications, datasheets, and procurement documentation
- Generate mechanical design documents including reports, PFDs, P&IDs, 3D models, sketches, isometrics, piping layouts, and specifications
- Review and verify technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with standards
- Evaluate mechanical vendor documents for conformance with design requirements
- Coordinate document development with other engineering teams
Procurement & Construction Support
- Assist in reviewing mechanical vendor and contractor bids; contribute to technical bid evaluations
- Support the review of construction submittals and respond to technical RFIs
- Provide on-site support during construction and commissioning, including inspections and data collection
Project Planning & Coordination
- Contribute to the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and planning documentation
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, qualification packages, and supporting materials for project pursuits
- Track progress of engineering tasks and support scope and budget control
- Coordinate scope changes and report potential impacts to the project team
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Communicate professionally and contribute to client satisfaction goals
- Participate in project meetings, technical discussions, and design reviews
Compliance, Safety, and Quality
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and procedures
- Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements and policies
- Maintain a high level of professional, ethical, and technical performance
Other
- Support development of technical reports for internal and external use
- Perform other duties as assigned
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees,’ wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
- Preferred: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a specialized area related to energy systems, materials science, or battery technology
Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
- Experience executing mechanical design as part of multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE)
- Proficiency in design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, AFT Fathom, Bluebeam, SmartPlant, and 3D modeling software)
- Strong attention to detail and technical documentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience with specialization in battery manufacturing or energy storage systems
- Training or certification in battery technology or energy systems
