Position Summary
The Production Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assurance in the
production process of electric trucks. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, supervising a team of four staff members, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The engineer will work closely with various teams, including
Customer Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Quality Engineers, and Production personnel at all levels, to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and maintain high-quality standards. Additionally, the engineer must be
willing and able to roll up their sleeves and engage directly on the shop floor, driving process improvements and ensuring quality standards are met at every stage.
Position Responsibilities
- Quality Control & Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
- Supervision & Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of four quality staff, providing guidance and training.
- Process Improvement: Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Problem-Solving: Investigate internal customer (production line) complaints and non-conformance issues, providing solutions or recommendations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain quality assurance records, audit reports, and performance metrics in collaboration with the Quality Administration team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Customer Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Quality Engineers, and Production personnel at all levels to optimize production processes and ensure seamless operations.
- Hands-On Shop Floor Engagement: Actively participate in shop floor activities, working alongside production teams to identify and resolve quality issues in real time.
- Leadership Development: Strengthen mentorship and coaching skills to lead a team effectively.
- Technical Growth: Expand knowledge of quality engineering processes, industry standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Initiative & Problem-Solving: Take proactive steps in identifying and solving production challenges, demonstrating readiness for expanded responsibilities.
- Career Growth & Communication: Express leadership aspirations through active participation in improvement initiatives and discussions with management.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 6-7 years of experience in quality engineering, ideally in an automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills practiced for a minimum of 5 years.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in quality inspection tools and software.
- Hands-on approach, actively engaging with shop floor personnel to drive quality improvements.
