The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
Who we are looking for:
Slate is seeking an experienced and motivated Inbound Logistics Specialist to manage the inbound supply chain for our growing electric vehicle production needs. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in logistics and supply chain management, but should also be agile and resourceful, capable of navigating the unique challenges and opportunities within a fast-moving EV startup.
In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of parts, materials, and components from suppliers to production. You will manage key logistics functions, optimize processes, and contribute to scaling our supply chain operations, all while being ready to adapt to a variety of roles within the logistics function as our company evolves.
What you get to do:
- Inbound Logistics Management: Oversee the timely and cost-effective receipt of goods, ensuring the appropriate coordination with suppliers, warehouse teams, and production departments. Manage inventory levels and track materials to ensure continuous production flow.
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and freight providers. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries, resolve discrepancies, and manage any issues with shipments or orders.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to streamline inbound logistics operations, reducing lead times and overall costs. Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize transportation and inventory management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including production, procurement, engineering, and quality control, to ensure alignment on material requirements and address any challenges in production schedules.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all shipping and receiving documents are accurate, and compliance standards are met. This includes managing customs documentation, import / export requirements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively address and resolve any supply chain issues such as material shortages, transportation delays, or quality control concerns. Be ready to jump in and support other parts of the logistics and operations functions, such as outbound logistics or warehousing, when needed.
- Adaptability & Flexibility: In an evolving startup environment, you will need to take on various roles across the logistics function as required. This may include working on sourcing strategies, inventory management, or supporting other verticals like packaging or distribution.
Key challenges you will face:
- Rapid Scaling: As a startup, you will be working in a constantly evolving environment. Expect to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities as the company grows and expands into new markets.
- Supply Chain Volatility: Due to the global nature of the EV industry, supply chain disruptions are inevitable. Your ability to be resourceful, think on your feet, and find solutions in the face of challenges will be crucial.
- Multidisciplinary Role: You will be asked to wear multiple hats across different verticals of logistics, from inbound to outbound, and even broader operational roles, requiring you to be comfortable jumping between different functions within the organization.
- Innovation and Process Improvement: You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new processes and systems that improve efficiency and support the growth of our business in a competitive industry.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. While a degree is preferred, we value hands-on experience and a proven track record of success in inbound logistics as a suitable substitute and encourage candidates to apply who can demonstrate 3+ years of relevant and commensurate professional experience.
