Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Design and Release Engineer (DRE) - Seating to join our growing team. The DRE will be responsible for design and development of interior seating sub-systems, components, and related structures across the organization.
What you get to do:
- Be an integral part of an energetic team that's challenging the status quo of vehicle design.
- Develop and implement functional objectives to meet project performance targets including Regulations, NVH, Durability, Craftsmanship, and Comfort.
- Manage all aspects of interior component development from concept to launch to meet project requirements including performance, cost, mass, timing, manufacturability, etc.
- Lead APQP requirements are completed such as BOM, DFMEA and DVP while supporting PFMEA, Control Plan, and Production assembly process drawings.
- Manage change control with accurate and on-time releases.
- Lead collaboration between internal/external teams and suppliers to meet all project requirements as part of vehicle integration.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent.
- 8+ years of vehicle design and release experience in the areas of automotive seating including structures, foam and trim, plastics, and seat complete engineering from concept to launch.
- Hands on experience in DFA, DFM evaluations for Trim, Foam, Metal, Plastic parts, Gap and Flush, GD&T, and assembly processes.
- Strong understanding of seat comfort and craftsmanship.
- Broad experiential knowledge of NHTSA/FMVSS requirements.
- Proven communication and team building skills.
- Ability and Desire work in a fun and fast paced environment
