AESC is looking for Vision Systems Engineer to join our Controls Engineering Team, aimed at contributing to a premier group of engineers tasked with the design and development of automated manufacturing equipment in our factories.
In this role, the Vision Systems Engineer will be instrumental in crafting and implementing vision systems solutions for our battery manufacturing facilities This entails the evaluation, installation, integration, maintenance, review, and improvement of these systems. The responsibility includes setting equipment standards, configuring hardware, and overseeing vision-related projects from inception through to completion at our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, construct, evolve, integrate, and implement machine vision, robotic guidance, and vision-based control systems within production lines.
- Engage in the preliminary development of equipment concepts, ensuring a balance between product specifications, process needs, complexity, timelines, and expenses.
- Oversee the integration of external vision systems, aligning them with our organizational standards.
- Direct the updates, enhancements, and replacement of vision systems across our battery manufacturing facilities
- Prepare and train the operational and maintenance engineering teams to maintain and support vision systems throughout their deployment and operational phases.
- Developing or updating Global Standards for Vision Systems
Additional Info
Base Location: Southeast US (TN, SC),
Travel: up to 50% within region (US) and foreign (UK, EU, CH JP, others) travel for project support depending on Base Location selected.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in developing vision algorithms on popular platforms like Cognex VPro, Keyence, SICK, Fanuc, Halcon, Matrox, OpenCV.
- Expertise in defining hardware requirements for vision systems including cameras, lighting, lenses, frame grabbers, displacement sensors, and laser profilers.
- Skilled in programming vision applications using languages such as VB, C++, C#, Python.
- Demonstrated ability in deploying vision systems for applications like 2D/3D quality inspections, robot guidance, and process controls.
- Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols like Profinet, EthernetIP, EtherCAT.
- Adept at creating and implementing design of experiments (DOEs) and test plans in manufacturing or controls settings.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, Computer Science or related Field
- A minimum of 5 years of significant experience in vision systems and automation.
- Battery Manufacturing experience a Plus
