AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational and supplying electric vehicle batteries for the Nissan LEAF since 2012, was retooled in 2025 and now produces batteries for Energy Storage Systems. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About The Role
As an IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the network infrastructure across AESC’s manufacturing and office environments. This includes overseeing the construction phase of network installation, managing vendors, and ensuring network security and performance for both Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems. You will collaborate cross-functionally with IT members, business units, and contractors to ensure the proper setup and maintenance of all network components, while driving continuous improvements to network performance and security.
This role is essential in ensuring the seamless operation of network infrastructure within AESC’s high-tech manufacturing facilities, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term network success.
What You Will Do
- Assist with the implement both manufacturing and office networks, ensuring functionality, performance, security, and scalability of the network infrastructure.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors during the construction phase toversee the installation of physical network components, including ethernet/fiber cabling, MDFs/IDFs, building DMARC for ISP access, and exterior data vaults for building-to-building connectivity.
- Maintain network security between manufacturing and office environments to ensure proper segmentation, protection and cybersecurity policies.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of the plant CCTV and access control systems.
- Once the construction phase is complete, the role will transition to managing the ongoing maintenance, improvements, and support of the site infrastructure, including OT and IT neto works.
- Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to ensure maximum efficiency and security.
- Support and monitor network devices within the manufacturing information & control systems to ensure uptime and performance.
- Maintain proper change control on the network to reduce risk of downtime or security issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT and business units to support ongoing system needs and foster continuous improvements.
- Assist the site IT team in troubleshooting, problem resolution, and network performance enhancements.
- Ensure network updates, performance monitoring, and security measures are consistently applied to maintain network integrity.

Qualifications
What You Need
- 5+ years of experience in network infrastructure design, implementation, configuration, and support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, technical training, or a combination of equivalent education/experience.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking hardware, with fluency in both GUI and command-line management.
- Comprehensive experience with multiple physical media types, including ethernet and fiber.
- In-depth knowledge of wireless networks, preferably with Cisco Meraki.
- Superior troubleshooting and problem resolution skills, with a proven ability to solve complex network issues.
- Strong professional integrity and ability to demonstrate diplomacy in interactions with diverse groups, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
- Familiarity with IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards (Training will be provided if needed).
- Familiarity with ISO14001 environmental standards (Training will be provided if needed).
What is “Nice to Have”?
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
- Experience with PLCs / HMIs as part of an industrial network.
- Experience with Windows Server administration / Active Directory.
- SD-WAN background preferred.
- Experience in supporting large-scale manufacturing network environments, with a focus on both OT and IT networks.
Travel
Occasional domestic and international travel required.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
