We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive
Purchasing Agent to join our Coastal Mechanical Group in Melbourne, FL. This in-office role will support day-to-day procurement activities for HVAC and plumbing construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing of materials, equipment, and services. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands construction purchasing cycles, and is committed to maintaining strong vendor relationships and accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Source, negotiate, and procure materials and equipment for construction projects in coordination with project managers, estimators, and field teams.
- Issue purchase orders and confirm delivery schedules to meet job site timelines.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality products.
- Track order status, resolve delivery issues, and coordinate with receiving departments to verify deliveries.
- Assist with inventory management and ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Work closely with accounting to reconcile invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and forecast material needs based on project schedules and requirements.
- Support cost control efforts through price comparisons and value engineering initiatives.
- Maintain organized and accurate purchasing records in alignment with company standards.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in mechanical contracting, construction, or related industries.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to read construction documents and material specifications is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Procore, or similar).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
