Job Summary:
creative werks partners with Top 100 food brands to bring their products to market through our design, co-packing and manufacturing services. The Packaging Engineer will work to help the Design R&D team support in the development and optimization of packaging solutions for our clients. The work will directly focus on our confections and snack space, ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role will require cross-functional collaboration across multiple internal departments as well as client facing communication.
Responsibilities Of The Position
- Assist in the design and development of innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions that meet client needs, retailer specifications and manufacturing feasibility requirements
- Create pallet configurations and shipping optimizations using TOPS software to enhance supply chain efficiency, packaging improvements and cost savings opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers on design development, obtain dielines and samples and validate material specifications
- Manage all packaging components through the development lifecycle, including BOM creation, material costing, supplier quotes, and internal documentation
- Ensure packaging compliance through safety testing, specification development, and completion of client-required surveys and technical forms
- Partner with the design team to review and approve artwork layouts as they relate to dieline orientation and print accuracy
- Manage Safety Testing and internal documentation of packaging and creative werks’ owned molds
- Contribute to cross-functional ideation sessions internally and with clients to generate and refine creative packaging concepts
- Support sustainability initiatives by identifying and implementing eco-friendly packaging alternatives in collaboration with the Sustainability Manager
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Innovative thinker who understands the co-packing and manufacturing process to design cost effectively and strategically
- Fosters a self-starter approach, collaboration, curiosity, problem-solving and solutioning new challenges
- Familiarity with pallet pattern, dielines and corrugated packaging a plus
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 0-2+ years of relevant industry experience and/or training
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
- Participate and adhere to GMP guidelines and rules when visiting the production floor
- Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring

The approved annualized base compensation range for this role is established at $70,000 - $85,000. Final offer amounts will be determined based on candidate skills, qualifications, experience and domain expertise.
