Role SummaryThe Service Engineering team within Commercial Technology at Rivian builds software to support the post-sales servicing needs of our customers. Our applications are used by customers and service centers to provide a world class service experience. As Rivian’s customer base grows, the Service Engineering team is pushing the boundaries of where we can service a vehicle - no longer confined to our Service Centers, we are making a push to come to you (mobile servicing)! We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is comfortable working across the stack in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, is obsessed with providing the best experience for our customers, motivated by learning and holds themselves to high engineering standards.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and test customer-facing APIs and internal applications, including frontend and backend distributed systems and micro-services at scale.
- Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, service leaders and other engineering teams on business and engineering initiatives.
- Mentor more junior engineers and establish best engineering practices for the team.
- Willing to support on-call rotation as needed for production systems.
Qualifications- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in CS or any STEM discipline.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Proficiency in GraphQL and REST.
- Familiarity with ReactJS using TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of databases and comfortable with data modeling in a SQL or NoSQL (DynamoDB) world.
- Familiarity with Gitlab and its CI/CD pipeline.
- Familiarity with IaC (Terraform).
- Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS preferred) and deploying to a serverless (Lambda) or Dockerized environment (Kubernetes).
- Experience working with asynchronous, event-based workflows.
- Experience using DataDog or similar technologies to debug production issues.
- Unit testing and test-driven development experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. We work with our non-technical colleagues on a daily basis and we should be able to communicate the intricate details in a reasonable fashion.
Pay DisclosureSalary Range for California Based Applicants:$135,100 - $168,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
