The Senior Qualification Engineer leads qualification testing for standard and custom hardware and software aerospace systems. They develop test procedures, assess required equipment, and may help build or modify test fixtures. This role also supports certification processes for the overall demonstration of product compliance.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Design and Software teams to identify support equipment necessary for successful performance verification during formal qualification testing
- Draft qualification test procedures and reports (QTP and QTR), and other documents as required to facilitate the qualification of various products
- Perform technical review of QTPs and QTRs and provide feedback to other junior team members
- Facilitate contract execution with third-party laboratories to secure resources, schedule test facilities, and coordinate with laboratory technicians
- Monitor, coordinate, and manage all activities related to the execution of the formal qualification test program, including
- Setting and maintaining the test schedule
- Integrating test lab and support equipment
- Coordinating with any test witnesses
- Providing regular status reports
- Evaluate test anomalies, including root cause analysis, to support the completion of Failure Reporting and Corrective Action (FRACA) investigations
- Documentation for test failure conditions and recovery plans
- Represent the company and liaise with test witnessing entities such Boeing, Airbus and others
- Mentor and/or train others on qualification aspects
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field
- 6+ years of experience in a similar product compliance role
- Experience in an AS9100 quality environment
- Background in a test environment with a focus on meeting aerospace and OEM requirements, as well as industry standards
- Familiarity with FAA Part 25 and EASA CS Part 25 requirements for airborne IFE equipment
- Proficiency in industry-standard RTCA DO-160 and airframe qualification requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Thorough understanding of Electrical/EMI test procedures, challenges, and mitigation techniques
- Hands-on experience with:
- Temperature and pressure chambers
- Vibration and Acceleration Test Equipment
- EMI test setup and wiring
- Feedback devices like accelerometers and thermocouples
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $97,000 to $117,000 per year however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
