About The Role
As an
International Freight Forwarding Quoting Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to generate accurate and competitive quotes for both air and ocean freight shipments. You’ll work closely with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to provide pricing for a wide range of international shipments—including complex commercial and government/defense logistics.
This is not a general logistics or customer service position. It is a
specialized role within international freight forwarding, and success in this role requires a solid understanding of global shipping practices, carrier rate structures, and the intricacies of both import and export processes. You'll be expected to navigate tight deadlines and provide high-quality quotes that meet client expectations and win business in a competitive market.
Previous experience in freight forwarding quoting is essential. Candidates must have a proven background in this specific area to be considered.
Requirements
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Proven experience in International Freight Forwarding Pricing/Quoting (Air and Ocean).
- Experience quoting for Commercial and Government/Defense freight.
- Strong understanding of multiple transportation/logistics modes and services.
- Ability to negotiate rates directly with air and ocean carriers, vendors, and agents.
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills. Proficiency in CargoWise is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for Commercial and Government/Defense clients.
- Build complex, customized air and ocean freight quotes without relying on a rate database.
- Source rates directly from carriers, agents, and vendors based on shipment requirements.
- Analyze variables such as routing, transit time, equipment, and compliance to develop accurate pricing.
- Manage quotes within customer deadlines, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
- Utilize CargoWise for quoting, incorporating market intelligence, shipment details, and tariff analysis.
- Negotiate rates with vendors, carriers, and agents for Air Freight and Ocean Freight services, including spot and promotional rates.
- Respond to customer and vendor inquiries via phone and email, maintaining professional communication.
- Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and carriers through consistent collaboration.
- Monitor and manage quoting activities, including Hawaiian Government Freight Management (GFM) systems.
- Assist with sales proposals, quoting reports, and market evaluations for sales and management teams.
- Support operations by converting quotes to shipments and ensuring timely tracking details when needed.

- Salary $50,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience
