Job Summary
As the Sr. Specialist Emergency Management for the Factory, you will manage all factory related emergency management responsibilities and assist with KPA corporate office emergency management responsibilities. The Sr. Specialist will assist the business with emergency management planning, program implementation processes, and engage in refining the Emergency Management Program (EMP) as new processes are implemented and in response to risk mitigation priorities. The position's primary responsibilities are preparing businesses to manage emergency-related incidents through planning, rehearsal, and engagement in real world incidents. The primary job duties for this role include:
- Collaborating with company leadership
- Building an accountability network
- Implementing best practices in emergency management
- Managing risk mitigation and planning efforts associated with identified hazards
- Engaging and planning with community partners
- Engaging and overseeing emergency response functions
- Assisting with recovery efforts
- Assisting with developing and maintaining all emergency management documentation
This position reports to the Security & Risk Emergency Manager and will work with various site functions and internal and external customers, such as, Production leaders, Facilities, Human Resources, Employee Health and Safety, local fire agencies, County emergency management agencies, and contracted vendors. The primary objective of this position is to implement and manage the Emergency Management Program, provide training opportunities and act as a lead and content matter expert during a crisis/emergency. This position may require limited travel, working non-business hours and potentially weekends as needed
Essential Duties
- Locally manage the Emergency Management Program for our KS area facilities.
- Within reason, be available and respond to incidents 24/7 by assessing, triaging, and escalating to appropriate stakeholders.
- Work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines, maintain composure under pressure, and facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholders under stressful conditions.
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
- Help to develop, implement, and maintain emergency management policies, standards, and procedures.
- Help to develop, deliver, evaluate, and improve training/exercises, including seminars, workshops, tabletops, games, drills, and functional exercises, that test emergency management plans and develop core capabilities among key participants.
- Develop professional working relationships with fire departments, emergency medical services, and County emergency management officials.
- Help evaluate the risks faced by the company and use this information to find solutions that will mitigate priority risks.
- Engage in proactive problem resolution and strategies (internally and externally) to include incorporating best practices in alignment with Panasonic Energy of North America emergency management initiatives.
- Participate in incident investigation to identify causal factors to determine how incidents might be prevented in the future; recommend remedial and corrective action.
- Keep informed of current emergency management standards, best practices, technologies, and other resources, and as needed, recommend changes to company processes, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Attend emergency preparedness meetings with local, regional, state, and federal agencies, and address recommendations, decisions, and outcomes as they pertain to the Emergency Management Program.
- Engage with an assist in recovery strategies post incident in alignment with the Business Continuity Program,

- Various other duties as assigned.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management or enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in emergency management with previous emergency management experience.

- FEMA Professional Development Series
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation communication skills
- A high level ability to leverage technology in order to enhance the program
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior business leadership
- Ability to exercise clarity and directness in all forms of communication
- Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative nature with strong team building skills and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications
- Breadth of experience and ability to recognize, inspire and motivate others to perform well
- Certified Emergency Manager from International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) or State Emergency Management certification
- Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Advanced Degree
