Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
We are currently seeking experienced and motivated candidates for the role of Propulsion Dynamics & NVH Analysis Engineer to support the Global Battery & Propulsion Engineering division. In this role you will be responsible for creating 3D FEA and/or 1D Amesim mechanical modeling analysis to support ICE, PHEV & BEV propulsion systems. 3D FEA and/or 1D Amesim models are used to drive designs and eliminate hardware testing. Simulations are focused on various propulsion components such as electric drive units, power electronics, engine and transmissions.
What You'll Do
- Build, debug, and run analytical models, interpreting results for customers, attending development team meetings and interact with various engineers across the organization.
- Collaborate with vehicle noise & vibration (N&V) group to deliver propulsion system load cases and/or Amesim plant models.
- Advance analysis capability to decrease the need for testing and align with company goals for increased virtualization.
- Develop and continuously improve standard work and update procedure documents.
- Support teams in all phases of program execution from concept to production including optimizing CAE models for customer usage
- Support capability development projects as it pertains to propulsion N&V
- Actively pursue cost reductions, size reductions and efficiency improvements
- Provide technical leadership, engineering guidance, and mentoring to engineers to enable accurate and efficient execution of virtual propulsion program work.
- Establish and maintain relationships with many cross functional teams such as: Advanced, Program, Design Release, Validation, Calibration, and Controls engineering teams

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience with FEA and/or 1D Amesim simulations
- Extensive knowledge in Structural Dynamics as it as it pertains to NVH
- Understanding of ICE, PHEV and BEV vehicle system and integration
- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to collaborate with an analysis support team overseas
- Familiarity with a variety of other CAE tools (such as HyperMesh, Optistruct, ANSA, AMEsim, ADAMS/or any MBD Tools], Actran, Abaqus, Python and/or Matlab etc.)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- M.S. and/or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in structural FEA
- 2+ years of experience with 3D FEA and/or Amesim analysis of propulsion related systems
- Experience with programming in Matlab and/or Python
- Experience in Controls/Calibrations and Hands-On Testing [Vehicle and/or Lab]
- Proficient on numerical analyses [resolve numerical stiffness and singularity problems]
- Experience in Drive Quality development [Low frequency vibration and vehicle response]
- Thorough understanding of signal processing
- Fluency in Co-simulation using function mock up unit (FMU)
- Recognized as technical leader in FEA Modeling tools
