Electrical Controls Engineers in Tesla's Advanced Automation group design, develop and commission machine control systems for Tesla 4680 Cell Manufacturing from concept to implementation, working with in-house Tesla engineering teams and outside vendors. This position owns electrical controls designs inside our groundbreaking Tesla 4680 Cell Manufacturing sites globally, in California, Texas, Berlin, and all future Tesla Cell factories. Tesla Cell Manufacturing is a high-speed manufacturing process containing discrete and continuous operations, extremely high-quality standards and a high degree of automation.
At Tesla, we have a bias for being on the factory floor getting things done. This is a hands-on position for Electrical Controls Engineers with strong design background. Our Electrical Controls Engineers are regularly in the field troubleshooting and problem solving and implementing continuous improvement and optimization projects. Electrical Controls Engineers collaborate closely with cross functional teams - Manufacturing, Software, and Process Engineers and Leaders - to ensure controls system meets the functional and regulatory Standard requirements. This role owns review of vendor electrical controls designs and against in-house Tesla electrical and safety standards, best practices and requirements.
The Electrical Controls Engineering team serves as subject matter experts, executors on the factory floor, architects and advisors to other Tesla Manufacturing teams to accelerate low cost battery production, accelerating the world's transition to clean energy. Our team creates and establishes Tesla global standards for electrical controls design, documentation, training, assembly process, commissioning, and technology release to production.
