Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start May 2025 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August/September 2025) or into Fall 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

The Role
Tesla Energy Failure Analysis team is looking for a highly motivated individual who is excited about solving real-life power electronics hardware issues around renewables integration. As an intern in this position, you will have an opportunity to root cause failed field returned high power/high voltage electronics hardware and provide solutions/suggestions to improve future Tesla products.
What You'll Do
Investigate high power electronics PCBAs, low voltage electronics PCBAs and battery electronic systems to identify root cause of failure in Tesla’s productsDesign and conduct experiments to replicate failures on power conversion and low voltage PCBA's including board rework and FW/HW testingBring very strong and hands-on experience electrical test equipment: Power Supplies, Multimeter, Oscilloscopes, and other common equipmentUse analytical tools and techniques including electrical debug, X-Ray, microscopic inspection, cross sectioning, thermography, and functional testing
What You'll Bring
Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or related filed Proficiency at reading schematics and troubleshooting analog and digital circuitsStrong demonstrable hands-on experience with electrical test equipment: Power Supplies, Multimeter, Oscilloscopes, and other common equipmentExperience with soldering, and instrumentation is desirableWillingness to learn different failure analysis techniques including 2D and 3D X-Ray, Cross Sectioning, SEM, and FLIR Thermography

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
