The Ultium Cells Summer Internship Program is designed to give students meaningful, hands-on experience — not coffee runs and filing. As an Ultium Cells intern, you'll be embedded on an active team, working on real projects that directly contribute to battery cell production and company operations.
You'll be paired with experienced leaders and mentors who guide your development throughout the program, and you'll have access to networking opportunities across both parent companies — General Motors and LG Energy Solution.
The program runs for a minimum of 12 weeks, with orientation required on the program start date. Extensions are possible based on business needs — and standout interns are considered for full-time roles.

Requirements
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
At an accredited college or university — typically junior or senior year preferred for many roles
High school diploma or GED
Minimum education credential required for all intern roles
Available for full 12-week minimum duration
Must be able to commit to the full program from start date through completion
Attendance at orientation (non-negotiable)
Orientation on the program start date is mandatory — plan accordingly
Authorized to work in the United States
Ultium Cells does not provide visa sponsorship for internship roles

Ultium Cells internships are primarily located at their two US gigafactories:
- • Warren, Ohio — the first Ultium Cells manufacturing site, opened September 2022
- • Spring Hill, Tennessee — the second gigafactory, opened March 2024
All internships are on-site. Remote or hybrid intern arrangements are not currently available. If you live more than 50 miles from your assigned location, you may be eligible for a housing stipend (limited availability).
