We are looking for a bright, talented Electrical Engineering Intern who enjoys design and is passionate about developing the next generation of Electrical Modules & Components. The Intern will support module & component development with a major emphasis on electric vehicle and autonomous L4 vehicle component requirements, reliability & quality issue resolution, supplier management and component validation. The candidate will work closely with internal teams to capture requirements for designs and communicate with suppliers through development and validation per Program timing.
The Engineering Intern provides technical and analytical support to Research and Development. They also will serve as an Engineering resource during their internship for the delivery of vehicle components via Design, Engineering Change Management, Issue Resolution, Manufacturing Issues, Validation Testing, Supplier Quality, and Purchasing as the product(s) moves from concept to production and distribution.
About the Intern Program
- 12 week program with start dates on: May 12 or 19 or June 2
- 40 hours per week
- Must graduate between December 2025 - May 2027
Responsibilities- Collaborate cross functionally with many departments within International to collect and document component design requirements with an emphasis on Electric Vehicle and Autonomous Vehicle development.
- Support component development from initial concepts through design, validation, and launch into production
- Generate ideas through benchmarking to incorporate into cost reduction, new programs & quality improvement
- Ability to interface with suppliers for component development and track the overall timing to align with programing milestones.
- Support manufacturing, customer service, dealer, and customer base with any field issues as components move into production.
- Provide support to other engineering departments within International regarding electrical component development and validation
Minimum Requirements- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Additional Requirements- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Desired Skills- Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Positive Attitude, Ethics and International Values which support our company’s values, and a healthy, high performance culture
- Experience with electrical component development for the commercial truck market
- Experience with SAE J1455, J1113 and ISO26262
- Experience with engineering and quality practices dFMEA, 8D, ISO standards, Lean, DFSS
- Experience with oscilloscope and voltmeter
- Experience with packaging studies and 3D data reviews/direction
- Experience with Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Projects and Jira
- Experience with research and development and manufacturing processes
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Previous internships or work experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently
Benefits and Compensation- The expected compensation hourly pay ranges for hires into our 2025 campus intern openings is $24 - $38/hour.
- Hourly pay is based on year in school and is non-negotiable.
