What To Expect
The Energy EE team designs the eyes, ears, and brains of Tesla’s Vehicle & Optimus charging and residential/industrial energy storage products including Powerwall and Megapack. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving industry forward by designing central processing boards, wireless/wired communication systems, circuits to ensure user and equipment safety, energy metering, thermal controls, auxiliary power and system level components including breakers, contactors, and pyrofuses, and much more.
As designers of the boards that run these systems, this team also leads the overall EE design of these impactful products, working with a cross functional team to define the next generations of Tesla Energy products.
What You'll Do
Design of digital and analog electronic PCBAs, and system level design for energy productsStart to finish ownership of circuit board electronics – from specification through design, prototype, validation, manufacturing and field supportProduct level electrical design including system architecture, critical component selection, branch circuit design, and insulation coordinationPerform R&D studies, simulations and experiments to drive forward our technology roadmap.Lead design reviews and DFMEAsDesign for high volume manufacturing and global deploymentGenerate specifications for PCBA and system level factory testingCollaborative work with Mechanical, Firmware, EMC, RF, Design Validation, Thermal Design, Compliance, Reliability, and Field Service and Manufacturing Test Engineers
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability3+ years relevant work experienceExperience in selection and use of DSPs, microcontrollers, or programmable logic devices Experience designing digital communication busses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, SPI, I2C, etc.) Experience in selection and use of analog sensors and signal conditioning circuitsExperience designing board level power supplies (buck, boost, flyback, etc.) Experience in PCB layout, plane definition, thermal and EMC optimizationMedium to high volume DFT and DFM Previous work in the solar, energy storage, electric vehicle, or electric vehicle charging industryExperience in battery management systems, power electronics, high-speed digital design or RF is a plus

Expected Compensation
$100,160 - $273,480/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
