Position OverviewNavistar Systems Engineering team is responsible for defining system requirements based on customer, legal, technical standards, or internal specifications for mechanical, electrical, and software elements of defined systems. This position is part of the Vehicle Mechatronics Systems Engineering team establishing and developing vehicle systems ranging from conventional truck systems (chassis, body, powertrain, HMI, etc.) and with a special focus on supporting emerging technology development in ADAS and Electric Vehicle technologies. This position will work closely with the electronic hardware, mechanical hardware, and software engineering teams during product lifecycle.
ResponsibilitiesRoles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and System Requirement Documents (SRDs)
- Define CAN system requirements and interface specifications
- Develop vehicle topology / network architecture
- Write system specifications and requirements from vehicle/customer level requirements
- Development of system requirements, design, simulation, and tests of various mechatronic systems
- Development of appropriate documentation to support process compliance
- Collaborate with functional safety engineers and integrate safety requirements into system design
- Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, validation, and vehicle launch
- Utilization of systems development tools and processes
- Work in a team and contribute to the continuous improvement activities through participation in Lean projects, Navistar’s design standards, process improvements, etc.
- Problem solving and implementing solutions to the systems engineering issues
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Desired Skills- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering
- Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering principles and techniques
- Experience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, DVP&R)
- Direct or coordinated software development experience
- Engineering tool MatLab, Simulink, MS Visio, INCA calibration tool, Software configuration management tools, JIRA
- Software and electrical testing tools (Vector Canalyzer, HILs, VILs, etc.)
- Experience with Vehicle, Powertrain or Engine Controls System design
- Experience in functional areas, such as Cybersecurity, Electric Vehicle Electronics, Autonomous Electronics (Radar, Lidar, Camera, Autonomous processor, etc..), Functional Safety (ISO26262), Vehicle Communications and Network
- Experience developing in safety critical regulated industries (aerospace, medical, automotive)
- Hardware/Software integration activities across multiple component or system development teams
- Ability to learn fast, and to take ownership of assigned systems
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills
- Prior automotive industry experience in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), e-Mobility, or autonomous driving vehicle, system, or component development
- Relevant safety personnel certifications (e.g. CFSP, CFSE, or equivalent)
- Active or previous CDL (Commercial Driver License) experience
- Domain development experience in system design (e.g. steering, brake, ADAS controls, perception sensors, body, HMI, etc.)
