The Opportunity
This Construction Manager position requires a highly collaborative individual who will liaise extensively with colleagues within the Construction Department, company personnel across departments, subcontractors, and client representatives. Daily travel between project sites is mandatory, and the role necessitates frequent overnight travel or extended stays, along with the potential for weekend and night work to meet project deadlines and demands.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site evaluations and surveys for EV charging station installations. This includes gathering detailed site data, photos, and scope documents, and performing any necessary field surveys.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders on feasibility assessments.
- Act as the on-site representative for the company's clients throughout the EV charging infrastructure project.
- Assist in identifying, qualifying, and selecting qualified subcontractors for all aspects of the EVCI project, including site work and building trades.
- Oversee and monitor contractors to ensure adherence to project schedules, safety protocols, and quality workmanship for the EV charging stations.
- Collaborate closely with contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop cost-effective solutions (value engineering) specifically for the EV charger installation site. This includes reviewing and discussing design changes with stakeholders.
- Maintain positive relationships and act on behalf of the client in navigating federal, state, and municipal regulations related to EV charging station installations. This includes ensuring adherence to city permitting and construction inspection requirements for smooth and successful project completion.
- Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between design and construction personnel to guarantee the accuracy of construction documents and ensure the EV charging stations are built according to the approved design.
- Serve as a central information resource for the EV charging station project. Actively participate in construction meetings, resolve arising disputes between involved parties, provide ongoing project updates, and manage the project punch list and close-out process.
- Oversee numerous EV charger installation projects simultaneously. Continuously communicate with various parties, including employees, vendors, clients, and local/government agencies (both in person, via written communication, and over the phone).
- Adapt to frequently changing priorities, demands, and overall day-to-day responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending all required meetings and preparing detailed reports outlining the development and progress of each EV charging station installation project.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 10 years of relevant field experience, an Electrician's certification, or a Bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, or technology.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license with an excellent driving record is mandatory for operating vehicles across work locations.
- Self-motivated Leader: Must be a highly motivated and decisive individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. Must ensure accurate and timely project completion based on client specifications.
- Construction Drawings Expertise: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Construction Management Experience: Hands-on experience in directing contractors and crews for mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural construction within an industrial setting.
- Multitasking & Project Management: Able to manage multiple site projects simultaneously while excelling at multitasking and handling a heavy workload.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, along with excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.
- Collaboration & Communication: Thrives in a collaborative environment with frequent communication with employees, vendors, clients, and government agencies via various channels (face-to-face, written, phone) while adapting to changing priorities.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word & Excel) is required.
- Work Environment: 25% of the time will be spent within a climate-controlled office, while 75% will involve travel throughout the project territory.
