The Opportunity
The Utility Specialist plays a key role in the development of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) projects. You'll provide vital coordination and estimating data for construction and special projects, ensuring costs and change requests align with customer requirements. As the central point of contact between field teams, general contractors, and construction crews, you'll be responsible for facilitating timely estimates, purchase orders, budgets, and other crucial EV charging station project coordination tasks.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers (CMs), and contractors to ensure seamless execution of all Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) projects.
- Work alongside CMs to establish accurate site estimates and develop comprehensive Statements of Work (SOW) for each EV charging project.
- Ensure meticulous completion of all forms and data entries in designated tracking tools for efficient EVCI project management.
- Maintain close oversight over all required deliverables from utility companies for each EVCI customer, guaranteeing a smooth project flow.
- Oversee and actively participate in the planning, design, and procurement processes for EVCI projects. This includes the preparation of project plans, construction bid documents, and technical specifications as assigned by management.
- Collaborate with construction managers and management to manage purchase orders for external contractors involved in EVCI project execution.
- Provide expert advice and maintain clear communication channels with construction managers to ensure that EVCI projects meet and exceed customer requirements.
- Regularly attend project meetings and prepare comprehensive reports detailing the development and progress of each EV charging installation site.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of EVCI projects.
Qualifications
- 2+ Years of Relevant Experience: A minimum of two years of direct experience demonstrably related to the duties and responsibilities outlined in this position.
- Project Management Expertise: Strong understanding of project management principles, practices, techniques, and the relevant tools used for successful project execution.
- Regulatory Compliance: Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local construction regulations and codes pertaining to the design and construction of structural facilities and utilities.
- Scheduling & Budgeting Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing scheduling and budgeting software to ensure project timelines and financial plans are effectively managed.
- Inventory Management Systems: Ability to understand and apply computerized maintenance management principles for ordering supplies, equipment, and/or services, as well as maintaining inventory control.
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Thrives in a dynamic environment with constant communication demands. Ability to effectively interact with employees, vendors, customers, and government agencies through face-to-face meetings, written communication, and phone calls, all while adapting to frequently changing priorities.
- Strong Organizational & Coordination Skills: Exceptional skills in organizing and coordinating tasks and projects to ensure smooth workflow and efficient project execution.
- Effective Communication (Written & Oral): Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to ensure accurate information exchange and project progress updates.
