What You'll Do
Qualified applicants may be reviewed by one or more of the following teams:
Data and Test Engineering
As part of the cell modeling tema, this person will be working on battery pouch cell testing and analysis to improve fundamental understanding of different materials. Specifically, said person will be responsible for building robust data pipelines to aggregate test input parameters, execute and manage on-going testing and provide preliminary data analysis to highlight data quality. Experience with databasing and/or data analysis in Python and/or SQL languages.Document and communicate data pipeline packages
Data Engineering
Tesla is looking for a data-driven problem-solver to join our Cell Manufacturing Analytics team and play a crucial role in developing and optimizing the battery cells that power our vehicles and energy storage systems. In this role, you will define critical components of the data architecture that supports our global network of gigafactories. You will leverage extensive data from both the cell manufacturing process and Tesla's global fleet to design and produce safer, more cost-effective, and higher-performing batteries.
Formation Quality Data Engineering
As an intern on a multi-disciplinary team, your projects will involve the whole life cycle of cells, from manufacturing, to beginning-of-life and long-term characterization, to usage in fleet. Specifically, this role involves modeling of highvolume manufacturing data to extract the most information-rich metrics from cells, improve the accuracy of cell performance predictions, and support data-driven decisions on formation development. Basic knowledge of electrochemistry and/or batteries. Demonstrated programming experience with Python and familiar with the scientific Python stack (scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)
Data Analytics Engineer
As part of the Cell Manufacturing Analytics team, you will get to: Define critical components of the data architecture that will support Tesla’s cell manufacturing gigafactories across the world. Leverage the vast amounts of data generated throughout the cell manufacturing process and data from the global Tesla vehicle fleet to help Tesla design and produce safer, lower-cost, and high-performance cells. Data pipelines/automated ETL processes (MySQL, Spark, Airflow, Kafka) Data visualization experience (e.g., Tableau, Grafana, Matplotlib, JavaScript, Python, JMP)
Cell Qualification
The cell qualification team at Tesla is looking for a highly motivated intern to contribute to further the understanding of lithium-ion cell performance through cell testing and data analysis. They will develop cell test plans to characterize initial cell performance and their capacity fade and impedance growth over life, develop test methods and test protocols/schedules, help plan test resources and execute to the plan, and consume and analyze the results. Prior experience in battery/cell technology is preferred. Experience in programming and data analysis is preferred
What You'll Bring
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Data Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldProficiency in building data pipelines and automated ETL processes (Spark, Airflow, Kafka)Experience in data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Grafana, Matplotlib, JavaScript, JMP)Skilled in systems modeling and simulation using Python, Matlab, etc.
