Overview
We are on the lookout for a Hydrogen Storage System Lead Engineer to support the development and launch of Nikola’s Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. In this role you will lead the Hydrogen Storage team in the design, development, analysis, integration, and release of hydrogen storage systems.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Champion hydrogen safety
- Be an expert on regulations, codes, and standards pertinent to hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen storage systems, and fuel cell electric vehicles
- Develop next-generation hydrogen fueling communications, hardware, and protocols
- Lead team to create designs, drawings, and vehicle level models using CAD software
- Lead the preparation the hydrogen storage tank assembly for mass production, interfacing with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams
- Develop internal schedules to meet build schedules and program milestones
- Lead the management of hydrogen storage system qualification testing internally and with suppliers
- Lead team to provide field support including fueling, commissioning, testing, and inspection
- Lead team to jointly work with the engineering and validation teams to implement tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system with the vehicle
Qualifications
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with a strong background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
- Experience releasing automotive components, systems, vehicles into production
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP, PVP, PPAP
- Competency using CAD software; Catia and 3DExperience preferred
- Experience making drawings and P&ID’s
- Prior experience in alternative fuels (CNG or Hydrogen) is preferred
- Experience with Jira and Jama a plus
- The ability to lead cross functional teams
- The ability to deliver concise written and verbal communication and make timely decisions
- Motivation and pliability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
