EPG (EPGAmerica.com) is currently seeking a full-time Staff Mechanical Engineer for one of our partners that is in the clean energy sector. This role suits candidates with vast experience in heavy-duty truck and/or automotive engineering, control systems, and regulatory compliance. Expect to travel about 10-20% of the time to fully understand the practical use and long-term function of the company’s system. The position involves extensive collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineering team members, as well as close cooperation with our field operations and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing various components of the company’s system, from system implementation to manufacturing and production.
- Incorporating OEM and internally developed data into component design.
- Assisting with installation and ongoing upgrades/troubleshooting by traveling to clients' locations for physical implementation.
- Collaborating and sharing technical information with colleagues and relevant third-party vendors.
- Employing critical thinking to assess the strengths and weaknesses of different solutions, conclusions, or problem-solving approaches.
- Creating testing and production strategies for new products and components.
- Offering guidance to less experienced team members.
- Recording all of your time using a time-tracking application.
- Recognizing system inefficiencies and developing plans to address them.
- Developing assembly and quality testing instructions.
- Taking part in and leading design review meetings and conference calls with manufacturers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Finishing all projects and designing documentation to be included in installation manuals and product materials.
- Reading, interpreting, and using relevant technical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and manuals to finalize component design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- 7+ years of electro-mechanical engineering experience
- Experience in an automotive product design, development, and/or manufacturing
- Experience with advanced systems controls, calibration, and associated software (Simulink, INCA, Calterm, etc.)
- Experience with industry standards and test plan creation based on good engineering judgment
- Aptitude for mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to comprehend detailed product schematics and documentation
- Experience with drafting technical documents (please provide samples upon request)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software (AutoDesk, Solidworks, Onshape, etc.) and the ability to learn additional software programs as necessary
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability and willingness to work with other team members to solve problems
- Ability to work independently and under pressure with little to no supervision when necessary
- Good organizational skills in prioritizing, scheduling, and time management; detail-oriented.
