EPG (EPGAmerica.com) is currently seeking a full-time Applications Engineer for one of our partners that is helping to grow America’s EV charging infrastructure. In this role, you'll be part of the commercial team, serving as a technical representative for the company, with a specific focus on overseeing their major direct-current fast charging infrastructure projects and providing technical support for complex deployments of lower-powered charging equipment. This position can be located anywhere near Albany to Poughkeepsie as long as you can commute a few times per month to the office near Coxsackie.
Responsibilities
- Assists Commercial Operations staff in designing charging systems tailored to meet client requirements.
- Considers client costs, schedules, efficiency, usability, longevity, and future-proofing when offering recommendations to support Sales efforts.
- Assists in crafting initial designs and aids in estimating project bids.
- Aids the commercial team in addressing RFI or RFPs and contributes to formulating successful bid strategies.
- Has a foundational grasp of crucial business factors, applying this knowledge across all tasks.
- Recognizes how the role's duties connect with other teams at the company and actively contributes to those areas.
- Records technical suggestions, assumptions, estimates, and more to guarantee smooth project implementation upon receiving the award.
- Works together and fosters connections with the commercial, field team, and client contacts directly.
- Clarifies technical project details for individuals without the same technical background, ensuring understanding across the board.
- Strives to enhance personal knowledge and skills, especially by staying informed about emerging charging and battery technologies relevant to the company's market strategies and client demands.
Requirements
- This position is work from home but requires occasional visits to client project sites and the company HQ. This person must be in the eastern New York area near Albany and Poughkeepsie
- 2+ years’ experience in Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering with the ability to understand and speak on electrical aspects, read and interpret spec sheets, and related.
- Knowledge level comparable to a Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical/Electrical) from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, plan, budget, and execute.
- Computer skills (MS Office, Google Suite)
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with local and remote personnel.
- Detail-oriented and customer-focused.
- Working understanding of commercial and/or utility electrical systems.
Preferred
- Desire to be part of the fast-growing EV Charging industry
- Previous electrical infrastructure or EV Charging industry experience
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Electrical PE
