Scope of Position

The Commissioning Engineer will play a pivotal role in the successful integration of physical assets into the PowerFlex X software. Responsible for the commissioning process from contract closure to system functionality verification, they will ensure the accurate transcription of site information into backend systems, creation of relevant dashboards, and verification of system functionality. The Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the Execution and Hardware Product Development teams to ensure successful project outcomes and will work with relevant stakeholders to continually improve the process.
Responsibilities
60% - Operational
- Lead the commissioning process for PowerFlex’s EV charging stations, including pre-commissioning checks, system integration, and functional testing
- Accurately transcribe site information into backend systems for seamless integration with PowerFlex X software.
- Create and maintain relevant dashboards to monitor system performance and functionality.
- Collaborate closely with Execution and Hardware Product Development teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Oversee onboarding of new EV charging stations onto PowerFlex’s backend, ensuring efficient integration and functionality.
- Liaise with subcontractors and Project Managers to facilitate information gathering, site design, and proper installation of assets.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and specifications during the commissioning process.
- Document commissioning activities, test results, and any deviations from specifications
- Monitor assets and projects throughout the installation phase, addressing any identified errors or issues promptly.
- Communicate installation or design errors to project management for resolution.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety in all commissioning activities.
30% - Process Improvement
- Contribute to the development and documentation of the commissioning process (ie. plans, procedures, checklists), aiming for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality
- Manage commissioning and acceptance testing for PowerFlex project deployments, ensuring adherence to pre-commissioning checklists, commissioning plans, and SOPs.
- Continuously review and refine commissioning procedures to optimize performance and streamline operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement new commissioning methodologies, checklists, and testing procedures.
- Identify areas for improvement within the commissioning process and propose innovative solutions to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications
Education/Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in commissioning electrical systems, preferably in the field of EV charging infrastructure or other relevant experience
- Strong understanding of power electronics
- Experience with testing and diagnostic equipment used in commissioning activities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to travel to project sites and work in various environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of basic cellular and wifi networking concepts
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and design
- Proficiency in Excel
- Conversant in Linux Command Line
- Python is a plus, but not required
