【Position Summary】
XPeng Motors is entering Malaysia as a strategic Southeast Asian hub for our right-hand-drive markets. We are looking for a proactive Tax Specialist / Senior Executive to handle day-to-day tax operations and statutory compliance in Malaysia. This role focuses heavily on direct tax, withholding tax management for cross-border agreements (e.g., royalties, technical service fees with China HQ), indirect tax (SST and the upcoming e-Invoicing mandate), and supporting regional expansion across SEA. The role will operate with a high degree of autonomy and partner closely with the HQ International Tax Team in Guangzhou, China.
This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with growth potential — you will report directly to the HQ Global Tax Director and partner with Finance and business teams in country.
【Key Responsibilities】
1. Corporate Tax & SST
- Prepare and file annual and quarterly corporate tax returns (Form C / CP204 / CP207A), Real Property Gains Tax submissions, and Sales and Service Tax (SST) filings to HASiL and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
- Manage monthly/quarterly tax closing, including deferred tax, tax provisions, and effective tax rate analysis.
- Maintain the local tax calendar and ensure no late filings or late payments.
2. Withholding Tax (WHT) Management
- Manage and process withholding tax remittances for cross-border payments (e.g., royalties, management fees, technical service fees, IP licences with HQ and related parties).
- Ensure proper documentation, treaty positions, and proof of payment are secured to defend against audit and to support double-tax treaty claims.
- Monitor new DTAA / unilateral tax-credit developments affecting China-Malaysia cross-border flows.
3. E-Invoicing Implementation
- Support the local rollout and compliance maintenance of Malaysia's national e-Invoicing initiative (mandatory rollout from 2025–2026 onwards, phased by turnover threshold).
- Partner with IT to integrate e-Invoicing into the local ERP / billing system and align with XPeng's group-level digital tax-compliance framework.
4. Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist in gathering data and preparing justifications for tax audits and internal reviews conducted by external advisors or tax authorities (HASiL, Royal Malaysian Customs).
- Maintain tax-controls documentation aligned with the XPeng global Tax Control Framework.
- Support transfer pricing documentation (local file) preparation in coordination with external advisors and HQ.
5. Global Reporting & Regional Support
- Assist the HQ international tax team with data collection for global consolidated tax reporting and regional transfer pricing documentation.
- Provide ad-hoc tax research on SEA markets (e.g., Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam) as XPeng evaluates further regional expansion.
【Qualifications & Experience】
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, MIA, or equivalent).
2. 3–5 years of tax experience in Malaysia, preferably with experience in a multinational or a Big-4 accounting firm handling multinational clients.
3. Strong practical understanding of Malaysian WHT, SST, corporate tax regulations, and Malaysia-China DTAA treaty application.
4. Exposure to e-Invoicing implementation, SP / SST / e-SST systems, or ERP-based tax reporting is a strong plus.
【Languages & Soft Skills】
1. Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia — English is the working language for HQ and business; Bahasa Malaysia for HASiL and Royal Malaysian Customs.
2. Mandarin is highly advantageous due to frequent collaboration with China HQ and Chinese-speaking business stakeholders.
3. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
4. Self-starter mindset with willingness to take ownership beyond the formal JD as the regional business grows.
