What To Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support production equipment and processes in dry electrode manufacturing lines. You will work closely with Process, Quality, and Production teams to implement continuous improvements to existing equipment. You will also plan and manage new production line installations.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems, and in this role, you will have opportunity to drive manufacturing costs down while maintaining industry leading product quality.
What You'll Do
Prepare equipment documentation packages including 3D models, fabrication drawings, BOM, PFMEA, and Risk AssessmentsWrite Manufacturing Instructions to document details of equipment setup and functionAssist maintenance and process technicians with timely resolution of line down eventsLead major equipment overhauls during scheduled upgrade campaignsDrive continuous improvements to increase equipment OEE, safety, ergonomics, and process yieldCreate new manufacturing line layouts in collaboration with factory design teamsWrite equipment technical specifications and closely collaborate with external OEMs to develop custom equipmentImplement and validate manufacturing equipment upgrades in high-speed production lines
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience3+ years of engineering experience in an industrial settingHands-on experience supporting manufacturing line operation and driving continuous improvement projectsExperience drawing machine or production line layouts in 2D (AutoCAD preferred)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to travel domestically and internationallyExperience designing fixtures and tooling in 3D (SolidWorks preferred)Experience with new production line launchesExperience with industrial hydraulic systems and best operational practices to maintain such systems

Expected Compensation
$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
