As an intern for the Cabin Engineering Team, you will be immersed in a fast-paced environment and have direct responsibilities for designing, prototyping, and launching components for our best-selling Model Y and future vehicles.
You will be a member of the team focusing on customer-facing styling, function, quality, and manufacturability for subsystems including Instrument Panel, Door Trim, Center Console, Overhead, Hard, Soft Trims and Seats. You will have the chance to gain experience working in one or more of these commodities and developing skills required for becoming a vehicle engineer responsible for full systems.
You will report to the Manager of Cabin Engineering.
What You'll Do
Design 3D/2D models of complex parts and assembliesSupport vehicle development milestones, prototype/production build events through design and prototyping and root cause analysisCollaborate with other teams inside Tesla (Craftsmanship, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, etc.)Create sources of truth to references for critical system attributesCollaborate with key suppliers for part manufacturing, quality, and problem solvingCollaborate with cross-functional teams within the Tesla (Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups) to ensure system manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability
What You'll Bring
Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fieldSolid engineering fundamentals in areas such as materials, mechanics, dynamics, and part/assembly designEffective communication skills with the ability to influence across the organizationHands-on, proactive collaboration skills and energy to innovate with a high level of creativityProficiency in CAD (Catia V5/V6 and 3DExperience is a plus)C1 level in English both written and spoken
