Job Summary:
Purchasing Manager will manage purchasing activities and lead the category team, including developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.This individual will manage and effectively communicate timelines for all purchasing activities to meet project milestones and purchasing deliverables. The position will act as functional lead, supporting a development process and work in close collaboration with program management, engineering, quality, business development, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Full Budgetary responsibility of new and current projects, including cost estimation for BOM, Tooling, NRE, and CAPEX production costing of BOM, Tooling, NRE, and CAPEX target setting and alignment with cross-functional stakeholders to improve product profitability.
- Represent ABS purchasing organization in the project team meetings, feedback based on collaboration with Category Purchasing Leads on open topics and project launch status.
- Set up the sourcing plans and advance purchasing tracking, including timing and activities together with the PM team and execute responsibilities to the Category Purchasing Leads.
- Escalation support on pricing negotiations and disputes with Suppliers.
- Lead CAPEX expenditures within the organization, including alignment with the Operations and Manufacturing Executive Management.
- Direct Category Purchasing Leads to establish category strategies, including 5-year planning for strategic category management.
- Support Purchasing Director in implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for the department.
- Support Purchasing Director in establishing KPIs for the purchasing organization and track status and closure based on input of the Category Purchasing Leads.
- Support Purchasing Director and SQE(s) in establishing a quantitative supplier scorecard.
- Establish Supplier Business Review Meeting with Executive Management team at ABS.
- Train all Category Purchasing leads on new policies, processes, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- In-depth problem-solving abilities and an entrepreneurial spirit, ready to jump in when needed.
- Solid negotiation skills and ability to move discussions forward toward mutually beneficial agreements.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team setting.
- Extensive knowledge in tooling, components, and contract negotiations.
- Excellent organization and time management skills required to keep programs on time and within established budgets.
- Ability to communicate and make presentations to an audience effectively in a formal setting.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and experience with ERP systems
