Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start August/September 2025 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through approx December 2025) or into Winter/Spring 2026 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Tesla compliance engineering team is looking for an engineer who is passionate about product safety and reliability to drive the world’s transition to a sustainable future. We emphasize collaboration in our work, and always encourage each other to have fun while we are changing the world together.
The engineer will perform the evaluation, testing and global certifications on renewable energy and electrical vehicle charging products. These products incorporate Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, Solar, Battery, and Energy management technologies to meet national and international standards of ASNI, UL, IEEE, IEC, EN, KN, JIS, GB, and CSA. In this role you will work with nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTL) and our product design teams to get our hi-tech product(s) access pass to the global markets, which may include but not limited to the regulatory product architecture/design, developing validation plans, compliance roadmap scheduling, in-house compliance testing, debug/RCA, data analysis, and preparing regulatory documentations, etc.

Regulatory product architecture and designReview of products, specifications, and test plansDeveloping test criteria, methodologies and pass/fail criteriaSupport product registrations and permitting applicationsDebug/RCA non-conformities of productsWork with NRTLs to achieve product compliance certificatesConvert problem statements to specification requirementsCompliance validation & data analysis which may include, EV chargers, high power grid-connected batteries and solar productsPerform product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixingWork with Tesla cross functional Teams (ME, EE, SW and FW teams)Support the research of new market entry requirements
What You'll Bring
Pursuing a Degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fieldExperience in experimental testing and researched for power supply and inverterHands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components, understanding of how they interact in complex productsEffective communicator and excellent attention to detail. Remain engaged, proactive, and positive under adverse environments, owning assignments and taking full accountabilityExperience with laboratory test equipment and data acquisition system, such as the oscilloscopes, the power analyzers, data loggers, etc. Ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various product safety standardsKnowledge of energy storage systems, low and high voltage power electronic circuitsSelf-motivated and capable of working independentlyMust have strong understanding of design and application of electronics and electrical components.

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
