Ultium Cells Overview
Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description
The Production Management team at Ultium Cells manages the entire process of production from raw material to customers. As a leading role in planning the production for the battery business, the Production Planner is the most important role in running the day to day manufacturing operations, managing inventory levels, and maximizing the company’s profitability. The Production Planner is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the production process. Additionally, the Planner plays the closest role in the company’s production performance; as well as a main communicator who guides the shop floor to create the best-case scenario for overall manufacturing processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Report daily production numbers and yield for department
- Report weekly and monthly KPIs to key stakeholders
- Monitor the team’s productivity and provide guidance on production metrics; analyzing gaps and implementing improvements
- Mitigate potential downtime by ensuring even flow of material throughout department; escalating issues as they arise
- Monitor material supply flow and identify any bottlenecks in usage (from raw material, semi product, final product)
- Purchase material supply (from direct and in direct material)
- Shortages or Work cross-functionally with Quality Team to ensure material availability
- Coordinate with Equipment Maintenance and Facilities Teams to execute monthly PM schedules, building projects, environmental tests, and improvements
- Synchronize information flow between multiple IT systems (GMES, WMS, QMS, GDW, GSCM, DP, DW, FP, MRP, etc.)
- Track production capacity management (capacity allocation, facility improvement investments, building new line, etc.)
- Define appropriate inventory stock level and evaluate the observance of inventory operation policy
- Set up weekly meetings with Production Planning, Sales, and Quality Teams
- Manage production life cycle (Product Order – Development – Mass Production – Assembly)
- Create and maintain Master Data information (BOM/BOD/Routing/Lead Time/Tact Time etc.)
- Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality
- Promptly discuss changes to current production schedules with relevant departments
Qualifications And Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and manufacturing software systems
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multicultural, team environment
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
- Strong understanding of quality processes
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Bilingual in Korean and English (must-have)
- Strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills
- Experience with PowerBI or Davinci (Spotfire) preferred
