Job Summary: The Electrical Engineering Manager on the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) team is a strategic technical leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for a world-class lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility. This role will serve as the Engineer of Record on high-impact industrial projects while leading a team of electrical engineers. The successful candidate will provide department-level leadership, establish engineering standards, ensure compliance with codes, and drive innovation and performance across all phases of project execution—from early concept through commissioning. This position represents a key opportunity to shape clean energy infrastructure, mentor future technical leaders, and contribute to the long-term vision of an advanced manufacturing enterprise.
Essential Duties
Department Leadership & Technical Strategy
- Lead, develop, and manage the electrical engineering team including hiring, resource planning, mentoring, and performance management
- Define and enforce engineering standards, QA/QC procedures, design workflows, and documentation best practices
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on major projects, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Guide design decisions for complex electrical systems, including medium voltage (up to 35 kV) and low voltage (up to 600V) distribution, lighting, grounding, and controls
- Develop and validate system-wide electrical architectures, equipment strategies, and system integration plans
- Lead interdisciplinary coordination efforts and ensure alignment with process, mechanical, and civil engineering teams
Design Review & Engineering Oversight
- Oversee the preparation of electrical one-lines, raceway layouts, cable schedules, conduit sizing, and grounding systems
- Review and approve power system studies (e.g., short-circuit, arc flash, coordination) using SKM or equivalent platforms
- Guide photometric studies and ensure lighting systems meet energy efficiency and operational targets
- Approve key technical deliverables, redlines, and ensure quality and constructability of all designs
- Coordinate with utilities, AHJs, and trade contractors throughout design and permitting phases
Construction Support & Vendor Coordination
- Act as the primary technical contact during field execution, resolving electrical challenges in real-time
- Oversee submittal reviews, field inspections, and commissioning activities for electrical infrastructure
- Lead development and review of electrical scopes for RFPs; manage vendor bid evaluations, compliance checks, and equipment selections
- Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, and system integration documentation to ensure fidelity to design requirements
- Collaborate with construction managers and ensure site support aligns with safety, schedule, and budget goals
Project & Resource Management
- Develop and manage scope, budget, and schedule for electrical engineering activities across multiple concurrent EPC projects
- Support company leadership in setting strategic project priorities and resource allocations
- Track electrical engineering progress and performance using earned value metrics, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Contribute to the development of proposals, staffing plans, and execution strategies for future project opportunities
Client Engagement & Organizational Leadership
- Represent the electrical engineering function in client meetings, presentations, and technical negotiations
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with clients, utilities, design partners, and internal stakeholders
- Support business development activities by identifying new opportunities and participating in marketing pursuits
- Advocate for electrical engineering excellence and serve as a role model in line with company values and culture
Compliance, Safety, and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, and other relevant codes and safety standards
- Uphold safety as a core value and ensure adherence to site-specific and organizational EH&S protocols
- Continuously improve engineering workflows, tools, and performance through lessons learned and innovation initiatives
- Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and ethical engineering practice
Other
- Deliver presentations and publish technical reports or whitepapers for internal and external audiences
- Perform additional duties as required by project or leadership needs
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for our employees’ protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET – accredited institution or related discipline
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Essential Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity
- Extensive experience as Engineer of Record (EOR) on complex industrial or EPC projects
- Expert knowledge of electrical design principles, equipment specification, and industrial best practices
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools such as SKM PowerTools or ETAP (short-circuit, arc flash, coordination studies)
- In-depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IECC, IEEE, ANSI, and relevant jurisdictional codes
- Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and coordination platforms such as Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Strong team leadership, mentoring, and personnel development capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with clients, vendors, and interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience, with deep exposure to battery, chemical, semiconductor, or heavy industrial sectors
- Experience managing electrical consultants or subcontracted design partners
- Experience with hazardous (classified) area design and international standards (IEC, ISO)
- Proven leadership in scaling teams and improving engineering performance
