Job Purpose:
Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Team Lead will create and maintain a checklist to audit Auto Development Center (ADC) Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Operation Standards to ensure they meet East Liberty Plant (ELP) plant-specific Safety Quality Delivery Cost Morale (SQDCM) characteristics. Additionally, this role will lead a team of Process Engineers in studying the impact of new equipment and line changes to ELP and finding new solutions for current model processes on the assembly line to successfully adapt to the changes while still producing quality gasoline-powered cars.
Key Accountabilities:
- Audit big data to ensure accurate information across all BEV operation standards. Utilize Excel and Visual Basic Application (VBA) to optimize tasks.
- Review Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA) data and attend physical builds to analyze and identify potential problems.
- Study current and future situations to create & present information for explaining the problem, proposed solutions, and to secure support for activities.
- Study current production processes and determine impact and path forward based on New Model Assembly line changes.
- Develop plans and schedules for innovation projects. Set timelines and detailed activities. Hold meetings with cross functional engineering groups to ensure completeness.
- Support project team with special studies and investigations specifically for design concepts with significant impact to current assembly methods.
- Investigate & recommend improvements to ADC process design, line layout, product or part design, and the tools utilized in production to help eliminate top concerns.
- Communicate New Model process and design information to other MMC team members and request support from groups when necessary.
- Represent MMC in the development of New Model BEV processes.
- Support New Model events and forecast design impact to department. Identify concerns and countermeasures before mass production.
- Coordinate hand-off of new model from ADC to into Manufacturing Mangement Center control.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and Robotics); or equivalent relevant experience
- 2-8 years of experience based on education
- 2 years of mass production assembly experience, preferred
- Knowledge of: Process Data Development and Analysis (PDDA); process engineering Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST); parts numbers, Bill of Material (BOM), and applications; Assembly (AF) quality control systems and specification; Assembly (AF) techniques and processes; New model project development; quality control systems and workflows; Assembly (AF) department layout and equipment.
- Skill in: Utilizing 2D and 3D drafting utilities - CATIA; analytical problem solving and decision making; project management.
- Ability to: Respond effectively to unusual demands and special projects; work and communicate effectively in a team environment; clearly and concisely document thoughts, ideas, requirements, and problems.
Working Conditions:
- Shift schedule is primarily a first shift position
- Position could require some travel to other Honda Locations, including Japan
- Position could require daily overtime or Saturday/Shutdown overtime
- Work weekends, off shifts and holidays as infrastructure schedules dictate
