Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, the Purchasing Manager is directly responsible for the coordination of activities involved with the procurement of services and commodities, including printing. This position manages the complete purchasing and procurement function for the Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) in compliance with State of Wisconsin laws, rules, policies and procedures as they relate to procurement. The Purchasing Manager exhibits significant discretion and judgment in the performance of assigned duties and serves as the WSFP liaison to the State Bureau of Procurement in the Division of Enterprise Services of the Wisconsin Department of Administration. The Purchasing Manager assists the Director of Finance, CFO, or CEO with various projects related to procurement, planning, and other reporting needs.
Salary Information
Based on qualifications, the salary will be between $28.00 – $37.00 per hour (approx. $58,240 - $76,960 annually). As an unclassified position, this position best aligns to the pay range 07-03 for salary purposes. Comprehensive fringe benefits package, including pension, insurance and paid time off, included.
Job Details
Candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair. Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background and credit check.
Qualifications
A minimally qualified applicant will have:
- Ability to obtain, interpret and analyze competitive bids for the purchase of supplies, equipment, and services
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite and ability to adapt to changes in technology
- Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
- Ability to exercise a strong sense of priority and time management
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and details efficiently, with repeated interruptions
Well-qualified Applicants Will Also Have
- Prior procurement experience or experience in a purchasing related role
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standard procedures pertaining to State of Wisconsin purchasing operations
- Experience using Oracle PeopleSoft software
