The Prototype Vehicle Technician is a critical hands-on role responsible for the assembly, modification, maintenance, and repair of prototype vehicles and related systems.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
- Assemble prototype vehicles and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and instructions.
- Modify and repair existing prototype vehicles to incorporate design changes and improvements.
- Perform diagnostic testing on vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic) to identify and resolve issues.
- Fabricate and install custom parts and components as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including modifications, repairs, and test results.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in vehicle testing and data collection activities.
- Assist in the development of assembly and repair procedures.
- Manage inventory of parts and materials.
Qualifications
You'll have…
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.).
- Basic computer skills, Diagnostic Vehicle Tools, CAN Software etc.

- Associate's degree or technical certification in automotive technology
- Experience working on prototype vehicles or in a research and development environment.
