What To Expect
Tesla is seeking a Low Carbon Fuel Trader to join its Regulatory Credit Trading team under Corporate Development. The role will specifically support the origination, trading, and operations related revenue generating transactions within low carbon fuel credit markets in North America. Applicants must have a passion for Tesla’s mission to advance the world’s transition to sustainable energy, and successful candidates will be extremely detail-oriented, analytical, and effective communicators. The scope for this position is global and the preferred location is either at Palo Alto, California or Austin, Texas.
What You'll Do
Work directly with companies responsible for managing regulatory emissions compliance in the state, provincial, and federal low carbon fuel markets in the US and CanadaNegotiate with regulated parties to execute transactions and framework agreements to streamline increased trading activity Manage the ongoing reporting, delivery, and invoice requirements associated with the transactionsProvide detailed fundamental market analysis to support trading decisions and inform partnership opportunitiesPartner with internal teams to guide advocacy position in low carbon fuel markets in North America Develop expert local market knowledge on new and existing regulations and regulatory credit markets Ensure accurate external financial reporting by working with accounting and audit teams
What You'll Bring
Evidence of exceptional ability in a professional capacity with two to three years of experience in trading, portfolio management, or energy/environmental markets Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, or equivalent experienceAbility to read and interpret financial statements, analyst reports, regulations, and technical documents highly preferredExceptional attention to detail with excellent analytical skills (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint, financial modeling, etc.) Highly collaborative and team oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex topics into understandable points, particularly with senior business leaders and external stakeholders Analytical and creative first principles thinking with the ability to solve problems with limited information A sense of humor, agency, and comfort navigating an ambiguous environment

Expected Compensation
$64,000 - $156,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
