Your Responsibilities
As a
Senior Engineer, Product – Agronomic Functional Systems for John Deere in Milan, IL, you will:
- Provide technical leadership to support product development projects that require the use of the critical and unique technologies that have been developed internally/externally. This support consists of: Advance and apply our capabilities for soil & crop mechanics applications such as soil/crop/machine interactions, vehicle dynamic (tire/soil interactions), sensors (soil and crop properties characterization), machine wear (prediction and testing), etc.;
- Leadership to develop and deploy state-of-the-art advanced simulation of material (soil, crop, debris, etc.) flow on mobile equipment, subsystems and components as well as testing to define simulation parameters and models;
- Provide technical expertise to help resolve complex design issues working with both internal business unit customers and outside suppliers leading to possible design solutions or process improvements to improve cost, quality and performance of components based on testing and or simulation results.
- Up to 20% domestic and international travel required. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. Up to 20% remote work permitted.
What Skills You Need
- 4 years of experience in design and execution of laboratory and field testing of off-road equipment with emphasis on vehicle to soil & crop interactions including soil & crop material behavior and testing
- 4 years of experience in simulation & analysis related experience (Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Discrete Element Modeling (DEM), or Dynamic Systems Modeling (DSM))
- 1 years of experience in using physical and virtual data analytics techniques and applying results for machine learning model development
- 4 years of experience in applying deep knowledge of soil & crop mechanics to support product development solutions involving soil, crop and machine interactions
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Agricultural, Biosystems or related field plus 4 years related experience.
