Overview
We are seeking a Fuel Cell System Test Engineer within our Fuel Cell Testing team to test and validate the next generation Fuel Cell System for different Nikola platforms. This role involves testing the performance and the durability of subsystems and components, with a particular focus on fuel cell and powertrain systems. 3+ years of experience in Fuel Cell Systems or Internal Combustion Engine testing, preferably in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Design mounting and instrumentation fixtures
- Coordinate the build of the fixtures with internal/external departments
- Prepare test plans for FC system based on the DVP
- Ensure test equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for testing
- Support test cell instrumentation activity
- Support system and component testing
- Process test data and review with internal team members
- Support efficient issue/risk identification, communication, tracking, and resolution
- Have a hands-on approach to problem solving for component, sub-system, and vehicle level
Qualifications
You have:
- BS in mechanical/electrical engineering or similar
- 3+ years of experience in a fuel cell systems or internal combustion testing background in the automotive industry
- Sound knowledge of fluid flow, heat transfer and humidified gases
- Experience with temperature, relative humidity, flow Rate, pressure measurement, instrumentation, and control
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills, ability to identify and develop new ideas and initiatives, able to turn ideas into practical working systems and procedures; creative, hands-on mentality
- Good organizational skills and ability to work with deadlines is a must to be successful in this position
- Possess good decision-making abilities with sound leadership qualities yet open, respectful and convincing
- Believes in sustainability and our vision
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
