Intern Position Summary:
The Applications Engineering Team is offering a summer intern position to research, design, and propose prefab products including skids, precast, and molded product elements for Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) construction.
This 2024 intern program has an execution period of 12-weeks starting June 3 and ending August 23. It is a non-exempt part time job with a flex-time schedule up to 29 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret geotechnical site reports
- Read and identify changes needed on contractor plans including drawings, instructions, and schedules
- Develop requirements and specifications for metal prefab, precast concrete and cast polymer products
- Prepare calculations and drawings for fabricated, cast, and molded products
- Work with Engineering team, site managers, and project managers to prepare design packages for presentation to contract manufacturers
- Support installation of engineered prefab and precast structures including site visits
- Work with the Quality Control to ensure precast products are manufactured in accordance with EVgo Quality Control Program and Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) standards
- Understand, use, and maintain department design standards and standard operating procedures
- Assure all safety policies and procedures are considered in creating designs for mounting hazardous and high voltage equipment
- Other duties assigned as needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Technology Degree Program in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret design drawings
Desired Additional Qualifications:
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other 3D Modeling is a plus
- Familiarity with standards including ASCE, ASTM, SEI, NEC, UL, GDT, et al
- Ability to read construction plans (Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence, Outlook, Bluebeam, MathCAD, etc.)
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to finish a project on schedule
- Ability to interact with clients, manager, engineers, planners and other employees to resolve engineering and management issues
- Attention to detail and judgement to prioritize tasking
- Located within driving distance to our El Segundo Lab
- Promote and act in a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members
For job positions in CA, CO and NYC, the hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 - $33.00 USD.
